What is the best way to get there?

The Puerto Vallarta International Airport offers many daily non-stop flights from most major cities. Just contact the Punta Sayulita Club Concierge and the Punta Sayulita driver will meet you at the airport. Or, if you prefer to rent a car, the Concierge can arrange for a rental to be waiting for you upon arrival. Taxis and buses that will transport you to Sayulita are also available at the airport.

What is the local time?

Sayulita, as well as nearby Puerto Vallarta and the Puerto Vallarta International Airport all operate on Central Time.

What kind of nightlife is there?

Fine dining and entertainment will be available at Punta Sayulita's Beach Club or you can make the short walk or golf cart ride into town to enjoy live music in one of a number of popular restaurants and cantinas, stroll the plaza and enjoy guitar music, or join an impromptu beach party and enjoy dancing under the stars.

What is Sayulita like?

Sayulita is a very safe town where the local residents are friendly and helpful and truly keep an eye out for each other. As a result, there is almost no crime in Sayulita. Visitors are cautioned to secure their belongings to avoid any petty theft, but the violent crimes that have dominated the headlines in the American press are unknown in Sayulita. It is safe to stroll the streets after dark and kids can wander about without concern.

Do I need a car?

No. The Club Driver can pick you up at the airport and the Club Concierge can arrange any outing you wish to take once you are here. Moving about within Punta Sayulita and into the town of Sayulita is made easy via golf cart.

What do I do about groceries?

The Club Concierge will see that your home is stocked with everything you need during your stay. Or, if you prefer to shop while you are here, there are several small grocery stores in town as well as a local market, fresh fish mongers, and a meat market. Back in Puerto Vallarta there are a few large stores such as Costco, Sam's Club and Wal-Mart.

What restaurants do you recommend?

There are a number of excellent restaurants in Sayulita. You can enjoy world-class cuisine or some of the best regional food to be found. The Club Concierge can provide a full selection of dining options.

What kinds of activities are there for children?

The Club's Director of Ocean Activities can arrange a wide variety of water sports including surfing lessons and provide all of the equipment needed. The Concierge can also arrange horseback riding, zip line tours, mountain biking, fishing, sightseeing and expeditions to nearby points of interest. The Club's Naturalist is also on hand to conduct walking tours of the surrounding jungle. Or, the kids can just play on the beach. The local residents are very family friendly. Children are welcome everywhere.

How do I arrange babysitting services?

The Concierge can arrange for experienced child care providers upon request.

What sort of medical care is available?

There are several excellent doctors in Sayulita—many of whom speak English. There are also pharmacies, clinics in Sayulita and near Bucerias (24-hour), and hospitals in San Francisco ("San Pancho") (just 4 miles north on Highway 200) and Puerto Vallarta (several hospitals available with highly qualified doctors and modern facilities). Medical air evacuation services to the U.S. are also available in case of a major emergency.

San Francisco (San Pancho) Medical Services

Hospital General San Francisco, located approximately 10 minutes north of Sayulita, is the nearest regional hospital offering emergency medical services, internal medicine, pediatrics, OBGYN and general surgery. The hospital reports to have 38 physicians and specialists on staff with over half being bilingual.

San Javier Marina Hospital
The 36-bed Hospital San Javier Marina provides 24-hour emergency services, intensive care for adults and children and state-of-the-art technology in many specialties. The hospital reports to have 30 staff physicians. San Javier contracts with the many National, Canadian, North American and European Medical Insurance Companies.

Amerimed Puerto Vallarta Hospital
The Amerimed Puerto Vallarta Hospital, part of the first American hospital operation in Mexico, specializes in the care of international tourists and is open 24 hours per day with a bilingual staff. The hospital offers a wide range of services including: emergency, preventive and routine medical care, obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedics, pediatrics, ophthalmology, general surgery, cardiology, plastic and re-constructive surgery and more. The hospital has modern equipment for X-ray, EKG, pulse oximetry, cardiac resuscitation, defibrillation, ultrasound, operating room with operating microscope and complete laboratory services. The hospital also offers a 24-hour pharmacy.

Where is the closest golf course?

There are eight excellent championship golf courses in the area designed by some of the world's renowned golf course architects. In April 2010 the new Greg Norman signature design at Litibu opened for play which is located just 10 minutes south of Sayulita. The Concierge can arrange a tee time for you as well as transportation.

Where is the closest shopping?

Sayulita has a number of chic boutiques, art galleries, jewelry stores, and colorful outdoor markets. Huichol Indians set up shop around the plaza selling pottery and jewelry, and local artisans offer their wares at beachside stands.

What is the best time of year to be there?

Really any time of year is a good time to be here. We receive about 345 days of sunshine per year. We are located on the same latitude as the Hawaiian Islands and we enjoy similar weather conditions. From November through May daytime temperatures are typically in the low to mid 80's with comfortably cool evenings in the 60's. From June through October, temperatures can reach into the low 90's F (32 C) and humidity can be high, but ocean breezes bring cool air ashore for pleasant nighttime conditions. The rainy season is June through September. Rain usually doesn't start until late in the afternoon, leaving most of the day free for outdoor activities. How many people live in Sayulita?

Sayulita is a small town of about 2,200 full-time residents of Sayulita. While most of the population is Mexican either from Sayulita or nearby towns, there are a significant number of foreigners from all over the world that have chosen to make Sayulita their home. You will meet interesting people from England, Spain, France, Germany, South Africa, Australia and, of course, from the U.S. and Canada too.
